I work remotely, and for years, flight search came down to one question for me, what's the cheapest way to get there?

But that only tells part of the story. It doesn't tell me if the WiFi will be reliable enough for a client call, whether I'll need to leave for a visa run in six weeks, or how far my budget will actually go once I arrive.

I spent five years living in China and I'm currently based in Nigeria. Moving between places like that taught me that the real cost of a trip goes far beyond the ticket price.

It's the bad internet connection when you're on a deadline, the visa rule you didn't plan for, and the cost of living that slowly eats into your budget.
